Pinewood Derby Results - Feb 12, 2011

posted Feb 13, 2011, 6:15 PM by Peter Hamilton

Pinewood Derby Day pulsed with excitement as 40 of Pack 27's Cub Scouts particpated by building and racing a vast array of uniquely designed & decorated cars. Everyone who competed was truly a winner regardless of the final race results, and it was easy to see that each scout did his best. A special thank you to all the parents who helped to setup/take down the track, help run the races, operate our fund raising concession stand - and patronized the concession stand!
We will be handing out awards to our Pinewood Derby winners at our annual Blue & Gold Dinner scheduled for March 26th at the Parish Center at AOOL School.  To the winners (1st-4th place) in each of the Dens we will award ribbons (pictured above). To the winners (1st-4th place) of the Pack finale we will award Trophies. The results of the Pack finale were as follows:
Our top 3 winners above (Richard McClure, Sean Lynch, Owen Labosky) along with Charlie Komar (Tiger Cub Division) will represent Pack 27 at the Iaoapogh Mountain District race on Saturday, March 12th.  Registration/Weigh-in is on Wed, March 9th 6:30pm-8:30pm at the Northern NJ District offices in Oakland.
To see the individual performances in each of the Den races please see the attached spreadsheet which details all of the race results for the day.  In addition to the awards for speed the cars were also judged by a group of parents (who could not vote for their childs car) for Most Creative, Most Unusual, Best Workmanship & Best Paintjob.  The following winners will receive plaques of their achievements:
Most Unusual - Cole Roberson (Dinosaur Car)
Most Creative - Ian Hamilton (GEICO Money Car)
Best Workmanship - Jason Beshar (Silver & Red Wide Body Car)
Best Paintjob - Cesar Penso
Again great job by all Pack 27 Cub Scouts and an exciting day for all. A special final congratulations to all our Weblos 2 Cub Scouts who have participated in their last Pinewood Derby before bridging into Boy Scouts!  Well done & you will be missed!
Yours in Scouting,
Peter Hamilton
