Pack 27 Takes Home the Gold at District Klondike Derby

posted Mar 15, 2014, 9:42 AM by Peter Hamilton
On January 18th, 2014 boys from Pack 27 Webelos 1 & 2 + one last minute substitute Wolf Cub Scout competed against 21 other Packs from all over Northern New Jersey.  The competition involved various scout skills from building a fire in under 10 minutes to boil a can of water to life saving first aide skills to sled races on home made "dog sleds" like ones used in the real Iditarod sled dog race across the klondike in Alaska. Pack 27 had 2 teams competing in this year's Winter Olympics themed event where Cub Scout teams had to pick a country to compete for and represent in this event.  Pack 27 teams were:

Team Iceland (in Newspaper photo in link below)
Tim O'Brien (Webelos 2)
Kellen Moros (Webelos 2)
Jonathan Sanowski (Webelos 1)
Nikko Rocks (Webelos 1)
George Hamilton (Wolf Substitute for sick Webelos 1)

Team Jamaica
Owen Labosky
Justin Sanowski
Charlie Komar
Bailey Lagreca

Congratulations to all the boys who participated and did their best per the Cub Scout motto!  Pack 27 will be back next year in the snow covered landscape to try to repeat.  Well done Webelos & you too George!
